Toto we're not in TX anymore.

Landing in NY, you quickly realize that sir and ma'am are no loner part of the vocab of the locals. I hadn't realized how much I had been using it until my driver started looking at me funny. I wonder if I'll be saying fuggedaboutit by the end of this trip.

Golf League - not as fun as you may think

I just wrapped up my golf league with my partner extremely frustrated with me.  I got paired with a guy who was so worried about the course, it becoming private, etc that he forgot how to play the game of golf.  The guy was spraying the ball all over the place and couldn't keep it in bounds.  I became pissed off due to the heat and simply stopped playing, riding along.  Today I head to Apple Rock at Horseshoe Bay to try it out.  Review pending.

Acupuncture and a little help marketing

My good deed for the day - a yelp review for http://www.peachwoodwellness.com/

"After purchasing a coupon for acupuncture from Google offers, I walked into the building not expecting much.  Normally, at least from my experience, the effort put into the service reflects the discount.  Matthew, however, took a novel approach:  He provided me with top notch service for my first ever acupuncture.  I suffer from a multitude of injuries and see pain management monthly to assure my ability to work.  After an hour with Matthew, I felt like I was able to move more easily and much of the pain was gone from my joints where I suffer from chronic arthritis.  I've since gone back for 2 more treatments and continue to sign up as it's made a major difference in my day to day life.

If you are considering acupuncture, I can't recommend Matthew any more highly.  He takes pride in his work and the results show."

A desk, A cabinet and a lot of crap packed into a weekend

One of the big things I've learned about Texas that is incredibly different than the golf courses don't compare is that people here love their sports leagues for their kids.  They are well organized, the kids love them and they are highly competitive, even at age 6.  After my son's basketball game, one of the coaches for a flag football team approached Ange about AJ playing for his team (he had 3 baskets, 4 assists and 6 steals) and he was serious.  They try to stack their teams by spying on the other sports for the top athletes.  It's just nuts.

So we had that at 9 - which also crossed with soccer - and we had a gymnastics meet at 1.  AJ got 2 out of 6 blue ribbons before heading off to a local sports store to pick up golf shoes for the tournament to close his golf clinic.  Nuts.

In other news, I've picked up a lot of new items to help with a new venture.  It's sure to require a lot of work and a new desk, so I figured that's just some news.  More details to come in a future post.

Sr. Flex Shafts and Weekend golf.

Today, 9 holes on Crystal Falls and 18 at Wolfdancer (nicest club in Austin area) turned into a great first 4 holes.  Re-learning your swing is an exciting thing.  I require Light/Sr. Flex swing with all new Nickent 3DX hybrids.  This could come in handy as a I could start playing more golf and each Sr. flex shaft has added 1-2 club lengths.

Also cheers to Crystal Falls for their acceptance of Jr. golfers.  Included is a shot of my boy on the par 5.  We used GPS and at 6 years old he's hitting it 85 yards.

I'll keep you posted as to how things progress.

Golf ball challenge

I'd love to hear from any seniors or slow swing aficionados out there on what ball you use to give you that extra bit of distance.  I'm trying out the Top Flite Distance and the Bridgestone  e7.  What are your thoughts?

Upcoming posts

I'm planning on heavy blogging - as opposed to the diet kind - while on vacation in South Padre.  This will be my first Texas Golf Vacation.  Stay Tuned.
